You may have heard of Susan Jeske. In 1997 Susan was crowned Ms America, and has spent 20 years of her life working in the beauty field for a major cosmetics company as a beauty consultant. But Susan Jeske has changed and now spends her time touring America telling us about the risks in using modern cosmetics and modern skin care products. She promotes the benefits of natural skin products and natural cosmetics. Why has Susan changed?
A few years ago Susan had some severe skin and health problems. She was unable to deal with them successfully and so consulted a holistic doctor. His advice was that there was a good likelihood that her health and skin problems were caused by dangerous chemical ingredients in cosmetics and skin care products. He told her to stop using them and she did so, and within 2 weeks her skin and health problems were gone. So she spent some time researching dangerous ingredients in skin care products and cosmetics and was horrified by her discoveries.
For someone who are spent 20 years working in the beauty and cosmetics industry it must have come as a terrible shock to find that so many of the products she had been working with were laced with chemical ingredients which are dangerous. A wide range of these chemical ingredients are banned in Europe for use in these types of products, but very few are banned in America. Some of these ingredients are known to cause cancer and some of these ingredients were causing Susan’s own health problems.
As a result of her researches Susan left the cosmetics company. Now she spends her time touring the country warning consumers about the risks of toxic chemical ingredients in personal and beauty products such as cosmetics and skin care products.
Susan even put together a list of 12 toxic ingredients to look for on the label of any product that you intend to buy to put on your skin. If you see any of these ingredients don’t buy the product.
Many people, including myself on my website, have been alerting the public for many years to the dangers of the chemicals and petrochemicals used in so many of our personal products today. The FDA makes no effort to control this and is not required to do so, and for this reason this situation gets worse.
Most of the chemical ingredients used by modern skin care and cosmetics companies are incredibly cheap and for this reason using them increases the profit margin on the products dramatically.
Sadly there are many excellent natural skin products and natural cosmetics containing ingredients known to be highly effective and perfectly safe to use however these ingredients are much more expensive than chemical alternatives and so are not used in mainstream skin care products and cosmetics.
It’s perfectly possible to buy high quality natural skin care products and high quality natural cosmetics right now. Small niche companies see an opportunity in manufacturing these products and marketing them to consumers who are aware of the risks with big brand skin care and cosmetics products.
