Are Hypoallergenic Skin Care Products And Non Comedogenic Skin Care Products A Con?

by Peter Geraldson

Anyone who’s had an allergic reaction to anti aging skin care products would be forgiven for looking for hypoallergenic skin care products. Similarly anyone who’s had their acne exacerbated by modern skin care products would also be forgiven for looking for non comedogenic anti aging products.

Mainstream anti aging skin care products contain a range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients that can cause health concerns including skin reactions and allergies. Ingredients such as mineral oil can clog the pores and lead to acne.

There is no formal definition of what hypoallergenic skin care means or what non comedogenic skin care means and even if you find skin care and anti aging products labelled as hypoallergenic skin care or non comedogenic skin care there is no guarantee that they really are.

The FDA does not examine and is not required to examine any claims made on the labels of cosmetics or anti aging products and these industries are entirely self regulating. Manufacturers do not need to justify any claims made on the label of the products.

There are powerful reasons for consumers to look for hypoallergenic skin care and non comedogenic anti aging products but there are many traps for the unwary and it is likely that products labeled as such may still contain many of the chemical and petrochemical ingredients that you should be avoiding.

So if you’ve had an allergic reaction from an anti aging moisturizer for example, how do you successfully find a good hypoallergenic moisturizer if this is the case?

What you must do is find a manufacturer that publicly and clearly demonstrates a commitment to the safety fo their skin care products it manufactures (as well as to the effectiveness of it’s products).

There are companies that do this, one in particular that evidences a powerful corporate philosophy of commitment to using only safe and effective natural ingredients in it’s high quality natural skin care range. These ingredients do not produce acne or allergies. And this company has signed the compact on the website of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics which publicly evidences this commitment.

And there are also companies, including this one particular company, which strive to make it totally clear on their website that they have a corporate philosophy that all products produced by that company shall be totally safe to use. This commitment to product safety comes before all other commitments.

This one company produces a range of natural skin care products that are, strangely, not labeled as hypoallergenic or non comedogenic at all, though they are.

In other words you need to go beyond the claims made on the label and look behind the corporate philosophy of the company that makes the products to find a dedication to making safe products before all else.

And you would usually find that a company with such a stated commitment to product safety makes equally effective skin care products as well.

To find out which company commits itself to product safe skin care products in this way and makes totally hypoallergenic and non comedogenic products visit my website.
